Who is eligible to participate in the certificate program?

Any research staff who work at UIC can participate in this program.

Can faculty participate in this certificate program?

No, but they may still attend the Best Practice Hour seminars and the Master Classes.

Can students participate in this certificate program?

Yes, but this is not a formal degree program and classes will not count as credit toward a degree.

When does the program start?

The program is ongoing and does not have a specified start date. You can enroll at any time.

Is this program completely online or are there in person sessions?

There are several pre-recorded modules that are available online that can be completed at any time. The Best Practice Hour seminars and Master Classes are held in person (currently via Zoom).

Are there deadlines for completion of the various components?

  • You may proceed at your own pace
  • Online, pre-recorded trainings can be completed at any time
  • Best Practice Hour seminars are hosted on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 12pm, CT
  • Master Classes are held every other month and are 3-4 hours, usually spread across 2 days

How long will it take to finish the certificate?

We estimate the program would take someone 1.5 years to complete.

How much does the certificate program cost?

There is no charge.

I have already completed the CITI trainings, would I need to redo those?

No, you do not need to retake the CITI trainings if you’ve already completed them. Please send proof of completion to CCTS-training@uic.edu.

How do I track my progress as I proceed through the program?

Once registered, you’ll be provided with a checklist to track dates of completion of the various components.  Once completed, return the checklist to CCTS-training@uic.edu.

 

 

Can we earn CME credits through this program?

Not at this time.

Will this certificate help me in the job market outside of UIC?

The goal of this certificate program is to help train research staff so they feel more competent in their skills and, ideally, can advance in their career at UIC.

We cannot guarantee that the RC+ Certificate will help in a career search outside of UIC.
