How a research team moved from tackling vaccine hesitancy to addressing broader issues of mistrust

A collaborative led by the University of Illinois Chicago, focusing on increasing COVID-19 vaccine uptake among Black and Latino residents in Chicago, has expanded its efforts to address broader issues of mistrust in the medical establishment. Dr. Molly Martin, a professor of pediatrics and head of the CCTS pilot grant program, comments on the Chicagoland CEAL Program’s shift beyond COVID-specific concerns towards building lasting community relationships to improve overall health.
