Translational Research Technologies
Overview
UIC's translational research resources promote the use of, improve access to, and provide exposure and training in state-of-the-art technologies and resources for clinical and translational research.
The CCTS collaborates with the Research Resource Center (RRC) to offer a large array of shared resources that support a broad spectrum of translational research. Through this center, interdisciplinary translational research and team science is promoted through a single campus portal, integrating instrumentation and support staff expertise. By incorporating new technologies in the areas of genomics, proteomics, metabolomics, imaging, drug discovery, and clinical analysis of biospecimens, we can further support the resources available for translational research.
The RRC also supports a large, shared computing cluster, UIC Extreme, which supports all aspects of data analysis, research, and teaching. Additionally, RRC offers an institutionally housed central and secure biospecimen repository- the UI Health Bioreposity- for archived tissue and fluid biosamples.
Open Access to Research Core Facilities
RRC is able to offer UIC faculty expanded access to research core facilities at the University of Chicago and Northwestern University via an Open Access Agreement. Open access means researchers at each university will be treated the same in regard to availability and pricing of services regardless of their home institution. Each university agrees to wave the indirect (F&A) costs of researchers wishing to use each other's core facilities.
