Rationale:
The medical research community has historically betrayed the trust of the Black community. The Tuskegee Syphilis studies and the continued use of HeLa cells are well-known examples of how the Black community has been abused in the name of medicine. Social determinants of health and a lack of equitable access to care also leave this community at higher risk of contracting the COVID-19 virus. They therefore stand to gain significantly by immunization through vaccination.
This project took inspiration from the film and Netflix series, “She’s Gotta Have It.” This connects both older and younger generations through a common form of media entertainment. Additionally, the film is centered around themes of Black life and Black love, which will- ideally- elicit positive associations from the campaign.
Suggested Distribution:
Social media, particularly Instagram and Facebook
