New Resources for Social and Behavioral Trials: CONSORT-SPI and NIH Template for Social and Behavioral Trials
In this session, Dr. David DuBois will review two new resources to support conduct of randomized control trials (RCTs) of social and behavioral interventions.
- The CONSORT-SPI, an extension of the widely-used CONSORT guidelines for reporting RCTs that aims to improve reporting of trials of social and psychological interventions.
The Behavioral and Social Clinical Trials Template, a new resource developed by the NIH Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research.
The template is in draft form and NIH is soliciting public comments, due October 11. Learn more about the template on the NIH website.
Read about the CONSORT-SPI guidelines in two articles published July 31, 2018, in the journal Trials: (1) on the reporting, by Montgomery, P., et al., and (2) on reporting guidance, by Grant, S., et al.
IHRP Research and Professional Development Brown Bag Conversations, organized by Dr. DuBois, are usually held on the third Wednesday of the month.
These sessions are intended primarily for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and early investigators at the Institute for Health Research and Policy; however, all in theUIC health and social science communities are invited to participate.
